Letterboxd Review: The City of Lost Children - 1995

Story - A scientist in a surrealist society kidnaps children to steal their dreams, hoping that they slow his aging process.

This is perhaps one of the most unique movies I’ve seen, this and House are so surreal and amazing films.

A dark fantasy, it reminds me a lot of Pan's Labyrinth, the production design went crazy. Amazing prosthetics, the use of CGI is limited but it holds up, painted backgrounds that add to the movie's atmosphere. Is magnificent.

I am not into steampunk so my only plain of reference is Machinarium, it reminded me that, not a place I would like to live but a place I would like to explore.

Nothing bad to say about this movie other than I felt it was a bit too long, maybe I would have cut 10 minutes of it.

With this, I finished the Sony Pictures Classics 4K boxset.
